Multiple names from the wrestling world including Matt Cardona and Kota Ibushi were given shoutouts at one of the biggest award shows of the year.
The 2024 Emmy Awards took place on Monday, January 15th. While hit shows such as Succession and The Bear each took home multiple awards, actor Paul Walter Hauser was awarded an Emmy for Supporting actor in a limited series or movie for his role in Black Bird. In one of the more memorable acceptance speeches from the evening, Hauser delivered his appreciation as a rap.
Paul Walter Hauser would reference his upcoming match against Matt Cardona and gave an additional shout-out to AEW star Kota Ibushi. Ending the memorable speech with an iconic line from Wrestling, the actor referenced his manager Brian Walsh and uttered The Dudley Boyz catchphrase “Get the tables.”

Previously a Golden Globe winner, Paul Walter Hauser explained the significance of the catchphrase after winning the award in January 2023:
“The story behind that is my dear friend and manager Brian Walsh. He and I have a thing if anything goes well we’ll say, “Get the tables!” Like we’re pumped. I wanted to end it with a shout-out to him. And Bubba and Devon Dudley. Big fan of those guys.”
The Emmy award-winning actor will return to the ring on March 16th as he faces off against Cardona at REVOLVER Wrestling’s Ready or Not. This will be Hauser’s second match for REVOLVER, having previously defeated Matthew Palmer back in November 2023. Hauser has previously made multiple appearances on AEW programming, most notably being taken out by a Jeff Jarrett guitar shot.

Defeating Nick Gage in a deathmatch in GCW, Cardona would say goodbye to the Zack Ryder persona WWE fans knew and carved out a new legacy as The Indy God. In September 2023, Matt Cardona discussed the possibilities of facing off against high-profile YouTube stars Mr Beast and KSI.
In regards to Kota Ibushi, the AEW star was recently hospitalised following an appearance for Pro Wrestling NOAH. It was later reported that both ankles were injured in the encounter and would require surgery.
