On the January 14th edition of AEW Rampage, actor Paul Walter Hauser made a guest appearance hot on the heels of winning his first Golden Globe award.
The actor won in the category of ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Movie’ for his role in the crime drama miniseries ‘Black Bird’ where he played a convicted serial killer named Lawrence “Larry” Hall.
Soon after the win, the star was interviewed in the ring on AEW Rampage by Renee Paquette. As he was discussing his love of pro wrestling, Danhausen interrupted to talk about his own award for being the company’s top merchandise seller and wanted to take the Golden Globe to rename it a ‘Globehausen’.
Before things could go further, Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh came to the ring. After Hauser got physical with the group, Jarett knocked him out with a guitar shot to the head before the Best Friends made the save. However, Jarrett’s group left with Hauser’s Golden Globe.
Paul Walter Hauser explains easter egg in Golden Globes
During a new interview with TV Insider, Hauser revealed that he made reference to the Dudley Boyz famous ‘Get the tables!’ catchphrase during his Golden Globes speech.
“The story behind that is my dear friend and manager Brian Walsh. He and I have a thing if anything goes well we’ll say, “Get the tables!” Like we’re pumped. I wanted to end it with a shout-out to him. And Bubba and Devon Dudley. Big fan of those guys.”
Hauser also discussed how his appearance on Rampage came about, saying he texted Tony Khan about possibly using the Golden Globe as a foreign object.
“I just texted Tony Khan and said, ‘Hey, I’m coming to the show. I don’t know if I’m going to win the Golden Globe, but if I do, can I bring it? Maybe someone can use it as a foreign object in the match.’
“What I didn’t know was I’d get brought out and that Jeff Jarrett and his goon squad would come out and beat me up. That was not part of the plan. Obviously, I knew we were going to do a little bit. I knew we were going to do a comedy segment.
“But the rush of the audience and the guy Sonjay Dutt grabbed my shirt, and it became, “I guess we’re doing this.” I hope I get my Golden Globe back. Put it this way, I know Tony Khan and Chris Jericho and all those guys and respect what they did.
“I’m assuming I’m getting it back. I’m not worried. But Jeff Jarrett should watch his back.”

Paul Walter Hauser also spoke about his love of pro wrestling, saying he respects what wrestlers do and hopes to take part again.
“I just respect what these guys do. It’s so much work. There is so much pain outside the ring just dealing with injuries, soreness, and missing your family. I have been a fan for almost 30 years.
“I’m more excited to run into someone like Tony Schiavone or Sting than I am to say a famous actor or filmmaker…I’ve gotten to see some of the greatest AEW matches live. To get to step in the ring was very surreal. I certainly hope I get to do it again.”
