Even before CM Punk returns to television for AEW, rumors are already swirling that he’s going to cause some controversy.
Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch mentioned on a recent VIP Hotline episode that there will probably be something coming out media-wise that “won’t help matters” when it comes to Punk’s standing amongst colleagues in AEW.
Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve likely learned what this is in regards too. Last week, the outlet released a previous report that despite an initial indication, CM Punk could be clashing with KENTA at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2. These two men notoriously have tension with one another that stems from Punk using KENTA’s “Go To Sleep” finisher as his own. All that considered, KENTA has indicated that he’d be willing to work with Punk for the right amount of money in a bag. After those reports got out, Fightful heard that Punk “wasn’t thrilled with working with KENTA and he may come across badly in an interview.”
What All May Be Addressed In Forthcoming CM Punk Interview?
CM Punk does have an interview with ESPN set to release tomorrow and Fightful reports that Punk covers a lot of ground in the conversation. The Elite happened to be one of those topics and when word got back to AEW during “Dynamite” tapings on Wednesday. Through second-hand discourse, Fightful was told that those conversations didn’t go over well. AEW was on hand to monitor what was going on during the interview, but Punk supposedly handled it in a way where he blurred the lines of reality and work. The interview was conducted last week and it’s apparent Punk knew that the final product would come across as polarizing.
