New Japan Pro Wrestling star KENTA has reignited his war of words towards CM Punk as the innovator of the Go 2 Sleep looks to get the AEW newcomer’s attention.
CM Punk has been the talk of the wrestling world for the past several weeks ever since the rumours began that Punk was set to join AEW. On August 20th at AEW Rampage – The First Dance in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, Punk entered the world of All Elite to a rapturous reception from the fans who had packed the United Center.
In his maiden speech in the company, Punk immediately declared his interest in facing former TNT Champion Darby Allin. With Allin watching on from the rafter with Sting, the match was soon made official with Punk set for his first bout in over seven years at All Out.
With a strong hometown support behind him once again, CM Punk was able to overcome Allin in a hard-fought battle, finishing him off with his Go 2 Sleep.
It could have been the move innovated by KENTA that prompted an outburst on social media from the Bullet Club member, who simply said:
“F*CK YOU CM PUNK”
Whether this barb towards Punk is KENTA’s way of trying to prise open the ‘forbidden door’ once again remains to be seen. KENTA has competed for AEW in the past, teaming with Kenny Omega to defeat the pairing of Jon Moxley and Lance Archer back in February 2021.
The ‘forbidden door’ was on the agenda at All Out as Moxley took on NJPW legend Satoshi Kojima in one one one action. After the bout, Jon Moxley was stunned by the appearance of his former NJPW rival Minoru Suzuki. The two men will clash in what is sure to be a hard-hitting affair when AEW Dynamite emanates from Moxley’s hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.
