Don Callis Taken To Hospital After Being Attacked By A Fan

Don Callis makes entrance on AEW Dynamite

Don Callis made was attacked during an appearance at AAA TripleMania XXXI.

The main event of TripleMania in Tijuana saw Kenny Omega challenge El Hijo Del Vikingo in a rematch of their 5-star classic from AEW Dynamite back in March, but this time Vikingo’s AAA Mega Championship was on the line.

Ahead of the bout, Callis tried to insert himself into proceedings by accompanying Vikingo to the ring, but Konnan was having none of it and sent him away from ringside.

This time, it was Vikingo who ended the intense match, hitting a Poisonrana from the turnbuckle before landing the 630 Senton for the pin to retain the title and tie his series with Omega at 1-1.

Don Callis attacked after confronting Kenny Omega at post-TripleMania press conference

The action didn’t end in the ring, however, as Callis appeared at the post-show press conference to further his rivalry with Omega. Konosuke Takeshita also got involved to attack the Best Bout Machine ahead of Blood and Guts on July 19th.

Things took a turn, though, as during the chaos a fan legitimately attacked Callis from behind. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the fan jumped on him from behind and busted his mouth open.

“Everything was an angle up to that point, but then a fan who was apparently upset about what Don had said to Kenny jumped Don from behind, ripped his suit, concussed his eardrum and busted open his mouth while he was trying to choke out Don from behind.”

“Don was screaming profanities at the fan before he was pulled off, and was said to be livid afterwards.”

It was also reported that Callis is heading to San Diego for medical treatment in the aftermath of the incident, which was “absolutely not a work.”

In recent news AEW President Tony Khan has hyped up an upcoming Dynamite segment featuring Don Callis and Kenny Omega.
