WWE To Hold Crown Jewel Championship Bouts In Australia

WWE is reportedly moving ahead with its annual Crown Jewel Championship matches, despite the 2025 edition of the event shifting locations from Saudi Arabia to Perth, Australia.

The 2024 Crown Jewel event introduced the new concept of annual Crown Jewel Championships, with separate men’s and women’s titles contested in special champion vs. champion matches. Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan became the inaugural titleholders by defeating fellow world champions Gunther and Nia Jax, respectively. The titles were intended to remain in Saudi Arabia throughout the year, with new champions crowned each year.

However, the 2025 edition of Crown Jewel, set for October 11, will take place in Perth, Australia, rather than Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This change sparked questions about the future of the titles, considering their Saudi-based identity.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE still plans to feature the annual Crown Jewel title matches at the Perth event. Meltzer noted that Saudi Arabia will host the Royal Rumble in January 2026, meaning the region will not receive a second major premium live event later in the year.

“On the Crown Jewel PPV on 10/11, they will have the annual Crown Jewel title matches previously scheduled as an annual thing in Saudi Arabia. Because Saudi Arabia is getting the Royal Rumble in January, they aren’t getting a PPV later in the year. So the WWE men’s and women’s champions will face the world champions just like last year. The belief is these matches will go back to being a regular thing in Saudi Arabia in 2026 while the Survivor Series will have men and women’s WarGames matches.”

This year’s matches are expected to follow the same format as 2024, pitting the brand world champions against one another in high-stakes showdowns. Although the champions could be different in October, currently, as things stand, we would see John Cena face off against Jey Uso for the men’s Crown Jewel Title, and Iyo Sky would clash with Tiffany Stratton for the women’s championship.

What Venue Will Play Host To The 2025 WWE Crown Jewel Event?

The 2025 Crown Jewel PLE will take place in the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The venue is a 15,000-capacity stadium in the heart of Perth and will be the first time the Crown Jewel event has been held outside of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with all of the last six shows taking place in the Saudi Arabian capital.
