WWE Title On The Line For The First Time In Over 2 Months On 16/9 Raw

On the September 9th episode of WWE Raw, Kofi Kingston announced an exciting opportunity for The New Day.

Kingston revealed to his teammate Xavier Woods that they have secured a shot at the WWE World Tag Team Championship on the upcoming September 16th episode. Kingston humorously noted that he arranged the title match while Woods was busy enjoying himself and cosplaying at DragonCon.

Initially, Woods expressed surprise, thinking they were focusing on singles titles. However, he quickly embraced the chance to compete for the tag team championships, acknowledging the financial and legacy-building benefits.

The reigning champions, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day have held the titles since June but have yet to defend them on WWE programming. This upcoming match marks their first title defence and the first time the titles have been on the line on TV since they won the titles on the June 24th episode of Raw.

WWE officially confirmed the title match for the September 16th episode of Raw. The New Day, collectively 11-time tag team champions on the main roster, are no strangers to championship gold. Kingston and Woods have also previously held the NXT Tag Team Championship.

When Is Cody Rhodes’ Next WWE Championship Match?

Cody Rhodes is set to defend his WWE Championship on the September 13th episode of SmackDown against Solo Sikoa as the show is set to premiere on the USA Network. The match between Rhodes and Sikoa will be held inside a Steel Cage to stop The Bloodline from being able to interfere.
