WWE Talent Believes “Vince McMahon Is Back On The Throne”

Vince McMahon WWE Executive Chairman

Vince McMahon caused a stir on April 3rd when he not only admitted he was involved in WWE creative, but sat in the gorilla position calling the shots during that night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

The show underwent multiple late changes, with tweaks being made while it was on the air, many of which didn’t sit well with talent. Since then McMahon has remained absent from tapings, preferring to make changes remotely. However, that changed on June 5th when McMahon and a number of WWE Executives were backstage at Raw in Hartford, Connecticut.

A new report has now given an insight into McMahon’s influence on the show, and how the visit was received by talent.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider notes that while McMahon didn’t run the show from gorilla as he had done previously, he reordered matches and segments to suit his vision. Although this resulted in changes it wasn’t said to be an “overly stressful” situation.

Johnson adds that there wasn’t “resentment or anger” from talent on this occasion, with one commenting that the “band-aid had already been ripped off.” There’s also an “unspoken understanding” among talent that McMahon is “back on the throne,” and even if he isn’t around every week, it’s well known he’s in charge and his wishes will be met.

Vince McMahon Making Alterations To WWE Programming

The news comes after it was reported just seven days earlier that McMahon continues to make heavy alterations to WWE tapings despite not attending in person.

The report noted that several members of the roster were “upset” at McMahon’s in-person involvement over WrestleMania weekend, including being at Raw in person on April 3rd.
