WWE Superstar Gunther Makes History In Austria

Gunther WWE

Gunther is front-page news in his native homeland.

The reigning Intercontinental Champion has become the first pro wrestler to be featured on the front page of a national newspaper in Austria.

The Ring General is seen applying a Boston Crab to Ricochet as the featured image on the cover of The Kronen Zeitung, which is one of the biggest news publications in the country.

Delighted with the news, Gunther acknowledged the achievement on social media, posting a picture of the front page along with the following caption:

First Pro Wrestler to be featured on the front page, of the nation wide issue of Austria’s No1 News Paper.

Ricochet would also comment on the post, humorously acknowledging that he is also on page one of the publication.

Who Is Gunther Wrestling At WWE SummerSlam

Following a successful defence of the Intercontinental Title at Money in the Bank, Gunther was confronted by a returning Drew McIntyre, who was back to settle a score with his WrestleMania opponent. However, unlike the previous encounter, which was a Triple Threat match that also featured Sheamus, the SummerSlam match will see The Scottish Warrior go one-on-one with The Ring General.

The leader of Imperium is fast approaching the record for the longest singular reign with the Intercontinental Championship in company history, which is currently held by The Honky Tonk Man at 453 days. Should Gunther be successful in his title defence against McIntyre at SummerSlam, he would then be champion for 421 days on the following episode of Raw.

Win, lose or draw at SummerSlam, Gunther’s next opponent appears to be set. Following an impressive 5-minute showing against The Ring General on Raw, Alpha Academy member Chad Gable has sent a warning to the Intercontinental Champion.
