Goldberg has provided an update in regard to competing in one more match.
The Hall of Famer last competed at Elimination Chamber 2022 in Saudi Arabia where he was defeated by Roman Reigns. Not advertised as a retirement match, fans anticipated that the former World Champion would return to the ring once more to officially bring his career to an end. However, in April 2023, Goldberg called out Vince McMahon for not keeping to his word and promising him a true retirement match.
Having not officially announced either way what the future holds, Goldberg was asked for an update about one final match while appearing on 93.7 The Ticket. The former World Champion revealed that this is not a top priority right now as he has other commitments:
“I’ll be perfectly honest with you. I’ve kind of put that on the back burner. Right now, I’ve segued into dad, first and foremost, and husband and car host. I’m just having fun at my garage. So I really don’t have a lot of time right now to dedicate to prepping for a retirement match.”
In January 2024, Goldberg’s son Gage committed to play football at Colorado. The Hall of Famer addressed this and added that right now he wants to focus on getting his son ready for the upcoming season:
“I’m trying to do everything I can in my power 24/7 to get our boy [Gage] prepped for the next phase of his life. And in all honesty, that’s the most important thing I could ever have going. “Whether I was ready to step in the ring right now or not, I’d put it all on the back burner for this boy. It’s going to be tough, man.”
Goldberg Is Not Interested In AEW Run
With WWE seemingly not interested in bringing back the Hall of Famer for one more run, there was speculation that Goldberg may briefly become All Elite to close the book on his career. However, in the same interview, Goldberg explained why there is “not a chance” that he would sign with AEW.
In a new interview, Goldberg fired a shot at “the moron he kicked in the head.”
