While many top stars have seen their contracts expire in 2024 and went on to assess their options, Jon Moxley was one of the few who has not had this issue.
Following the creation of AEW back in 2019, many stars from WWE were signed to 5 year deals to prevent any stars from speaking to the rival promotion about contracts. Additionally, the top stars from AEW were also signed to multi-year deals for the first period of the promotion. Jumping ahead 5 years and a lot of these contracts have approached expiry. While a lot of the big stars have remained in their respective promotions, there have been some surprises such as Andrade making his return to WWE at the Royal Rumble and Ricochet becoming All Elite at the All In pay-per-view in August.
During a Q and A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp was asked if Moxley is approaching the end of his contract and if a WWE return could happen. Sapp stated in response that Moxley’s contract currently runs “until at least 2027 or through 2027” as he signed an extension back in 2022. In regards to a WWE run, it was noted that while anything is possible, Mox has not said anything indicating that he would be making a return.
Jon Moxley Explains AEW Title Hatred
At WrestleDream, Moxley won the World Championship for the 4th time and in the process also brought Bryan Danielson’s full-time career to an end. Following the victory, Mox and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club have run riot on AEW programming by attacking the rest of the roster. However, despite the fact he is the champion, the title has not been seen on TV. In a recent promo, Jon Moxley explained himself.
