Top AEW Star Hails LA Knight As A Prime Example Of Perseverance: “The Overnight Success That Took 20 Years”

Top AEW Star Hails LA Knight As A Prime Example Of Perseverance:

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley believes LA Knight is a great example of perseverance paying off.

Although Knight debuted back in 2003, it has only been in the past few years that fans have got to see Knight perform in a top position and given the megastar reaction that lives up to his nickname. Able to overcome the infamous Max Dupri persona, Knight was eventually able to be his true self and finally win a major championship at SummerSlam.

Moxley is very familiar with Knight’s journey to the top. Along with Mox and Knight previously being roommates and partners on the independent scene, the duo were in a match against The Big Show on an episode of Sunday Night Heat.

Speaking with CBS Sports, Mox praised Knight for continuing to follow his passion for 20 years no matter what, adding that it is a blueprint others should follow:

“The thing I love about it is that — it’s just the perfect example of like the overnight success story that took 20 years, People think, in all walks of life, they just have such impatience for stuff. And they give up as soon as things turn hard and as soon as there is challenges put in front of them. Especially in this sport, it’s such an up and down and, you know, nobody’s road is just consistent and good all the time to the top. And they just give up so quickly.

“No matter what anybody told him, he just had his vision and his intention and he just stuck with it for years and years and years and years and years and years and never wavered. And then just all of a sudden one day people think they just picked him up from like out of the blue — like they had a WWE casting call one day and they just hired him. It’s like, no, it took 20 years of eating sh*t to get to that point. And that’s a lesson people should learn from.”

Notable WWE Name Questions LA Knight

Knight continues to reign as the United States Champion in WWE and looks set to feud with a returning Shinsuke Nakamura. In a recent interview, one WWE Hall of Famer believed that the rivalry would be beneficial as they thought that LA Knight had “lost his spark.”
