Tony Khan Blasts WWE Over Jinder Mahal; Calls Out “Double Standard”

Tony Khan Jinder Mahal

Tony Khan is once again making some bold statements on social media, this time about former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.

On the January 6th episode of Collision, FTW Champion Hook called out Samoa Joe, issuing a challenge for the AEW World Championship. The move took many fans by surprise, and AEW received some criticism for having the star issue the challenge despite not having been in the main event scene previously.

Meanwhile, on the January 8th edition of Monday Night Raw, it was revealed that Jinder Mahal will be the next challenger to Seth Rollins‘ World Heavyweight Championship. Mahal made his return to the company one week prior after reports that a former WWE Champion would be making his return. However, upon returning, Mahal was confronted and dressed down by none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Taking to social media on January 9th, the AEW President called out wrestling fans for their “double standard,” wondering why he’s seen so much rage about Hook challenging Samoa Joe when Mahal is in the World Title picture despite not having won a single match in the past year.

“A double standard:

@730hook 28-1 career record, on winning streak calls out the Champ, a logical challenge sparks online outrage

Jinder has literally lost every single match he’s in for the past year, immediately gets title shot, where is the rage

#AEWDynamite TOMORROW on TBS”

In a subsequent post, Tony Khan continued, once again pointing out Mahal’s losing streak over the past year:

“A moral victory for USA is one win more than their World Title challenger Jinder Mahal has in the past 364 days… because it’s been literally a full year since he won a match. You really put AEW in our place getting Jinder Mahal in a big match on your tv show. Do it more often”

“Get Out Of My Sight” – Tony Khan To Eric Bischoff

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff hasn’t been shy about criticizing Tony Khan in the past, even going so far as to say the AEW head is “beyond help.” When Bischoff replied to Khan’s outburst with a clown emoji, Khan responded with a graphic of Joan Collins’ iconic Dynasty character Alexis Carrington saying “Get out of my sight, you miserable has been.”

In a further update, Jinder Mahal has given a humourous response to what took place.
