The Dyad have finally left WWE.
The duo of Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler requested their release back in April but it was rejected. The pair then expressed their desire to leave when their contracts expired in October. Although Shawn Michaels said that he would like to keep The Dyad around, it seems that the British pair have gotten their wish.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that a recent angle on NXT was being used to write them out.
“The Dyad’s contracts expired this week. On television, they had Joe Gacy & Ava talk about how they were all alone and the other guys were gone. They had asked for a release back in April and thought they were getting it until the company decided not to. At the time they said their contracts expired in October and would be leaving then.
It came across that was writing them out… Unless they change their minds and sign a new deal they are gone.”
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, NXT announcer Booker T confirmed the duo had left the company.
On October 14th, the pair released a video on social media announcing their return to independent wrestling while blasting WWE for its “overproduction.”
When Did The Dyad Join WWE?
The Dyad first began to appear in WWE back in 2017, first as singles stars and then together as the Grizzled Young Veterans. The duo of James Drake and Zack Gibson had already been performing under the name on the independent scene.
During their time with the company, they won the NXT UK Tag Team Titles before heading to the United States.
