The AEW Matches Tony Khan Would Recommend To New Fans

Tony Khan has listed the matches in AEW that are a must-watch for new fans.

Approaching 5 years on recently surpassing 5 years on PPV, All Elite Wrestling has put on just about every match imaginable that at times has greatly divided the opinions of wrestling fans around the world. From technical masterpieces and inter-promotional dream matches to barbed wire deathmatches and many bloody brawls, AEW has proved itself to be the alternative to mainstream TV wrestling and has carved out a niche focusing more on in-ring action.

With some of the best matches of the past 5 years happening in AEW, fans discovering the promotion for the first time are spoilt for choice when exploring the back catalogue. While appearing as a guest on The Rich Eisen Show, Khan was asked by TJ Jefferson to name “3 quintessential matches” in the short history of the promotion. While Khan did name 3, there were some honourable mentions also added by the founder of the promotion:

“I would say three great matches to watch in this company that I think are must-watch matches, there are so many great ones. I think the Bryan Danielson vs. MJF Iron Man match at Revolution [2023] would be among the very, very top. I also think that The Young Bucks vs. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page at Revolution 2020 would be among the top.

There are so many great, bloody brawls, Lights Out matches. I think Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa is certainly a fantastic one from the St. Patrick’s Day Slam in 2021. But honestly, it’s so hard to pick three. I think Sting’s retirement match would probably be my greatest moment, greatest show that I think we’ve had here, personally, so that would have to be near the top. So many other great ones. MJF and Will Ospreay maybe just had the best television match I’ve ever seen last week.”

Tony Khan Discusses What’s Next For Bryan Danielson

Kahn is currently finalising preparations for the All In card, which will see Bryan Danielson compete against World Champion Swerve Strickland in the main event of the show with the title on the line. With 2024 being Danielson’s final year as a full-time performer, Khan is looking to give Danielson a fitting send-off for the work The American Dragon has done both in the ring and behind the scenes. During the same interview, Tony Khan addressed what is next for Bryan Danielson when his in-ring career comes to an end.
