Summer Rae “Bummed” WWE Return Was Announced In Advance

Summer Rae

Summer Rae likes to keep fans on their toes. She was all about doing it for her WWE return in 2022, but unfortunately for her, that didn’t happen.

Fans were happy to see Rae [real name Danielle Moinet] pop back in to WWE as one of the competitors in the 2022 Royal Rumble, but much to the chagrin of Summer, WWE announced that she’d be a participant ahead of time. In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rae talked about that return.

“You know, I was bummed that they announced me before because I felt like no one thought I was going to come back ever.”

Rae also made mention how much she loves pulling a page out of Carmen Sandiego‘s book to keep the fans guessing.

“And I’m so good at hiding stuff like pretending that I’m somewhere else and I’m like, ‘I’m going to pretend I’m in Dubai,’ or something like that. Also I travel so much that I can put that [I’m] on a boat somewhere and I don’ even have to put that it’s St. Barts or you know, whatever it is.”

The Details Behind Summer Rae’s WWE Return At Royal Rumble

Summer Rae also recalled the phone call she received from WWE, which so happened to be the very day that they were going to announce talent ahead of the match and she was among some major names.

“I was doing cardio. And it was Smackdown. And they were like, ‘Hey, we need to sell tickets. We’re gonna announce the [Bella] twins, you, Mickie James.’ And I was like, ‘Mickie?’ I’m like, ‘Don’t announce Mickie. She’s the [Knockouts] Champ!’ Which is I mean, oh my gosh, that’s like such a ‘no, no,’ with WWE and like, the forbidden door and everything like that. So I wasn’t gonna fight with him on me, but I’m like, ‘I really think that’s a mistake for Mickie’, but like, well, what company I’m in to be announced, you know, with the twins and Mickie.”

Royal Rumble 2022 featured a lot of name women’s talent from WWE’s yesteryear, but to Rae’s point, a good deal was announced ahead of time.
