Rumor Killer On Jim Johnston’s WWE Return

Jim Johnston Thumb

Jim Johnston isn’t back in the WWE fold after all.

Jim Johnston is a legendary composer who spent decades working for the WWE. He’s the man behind some of the most popular theme songs in wrestling, composing music in various styles that would become synonymous with stars like Kurt Angle, Dwayne Johnson, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Johnston began his WWE career in the mid-1980’s when he lived Connecticut, the home of WWE Headquarters. He spent 32 years with the company composing some of its most iconic theme songs, but in November of 2017, he was released from the company.

On the February 3rd episode of Monday Night Raw, fans spotted an interesting name in the credits. Johnston was listed as being responsible for The New Day’s theme song, leading to speculation that he was back in the fold of the sports entertainment giant.

However, a new report from Fightful Select pours cold water on that speculation. According to the report, Johnston’s name appearing in the credits was a production error and he has not returned to WWE. Sources within the company told Fightful that there are no plans to bring him back.

Will Jim Johnston Enter The WWE Hall Of Fame?

Speaking in a 2021 interview with Chris Van Vliet, Jim Johnston discussed the idea of entering the WWE Hall of Fame. Despite his decades of experience, he has yet to receive an offer to enter the Hall of Fame, and he believed at the time that an offer was unlikely to come.

“I think if they haven’t already they’re not going to. It’s one of those pesky things where you don’t want to be petty about it. But it’s like you guys did fire me, but you want me to come back and put me over by doing the Hall of Fame. Would it be an honour? sure. But at the same time, it would be uncomfortable. There are people there that I don’t want to see and don’t want to shake their hand. But it’s not a big aspect of my life now.”
