The June 2nd episode of WWE SmackDown was all about Roman Reigns and his incredible World Championship run.
The Tribal Chief has held the World Championship for over 1000 days, so naturally, he wanted to celebrate. The show led to an emotionally charged final segment where Reigns was presented with a new Undisputed WWE Universal Title belt before the drama around The Bloodline took hold.
According to Showbuzz Daily, The Bloodline soap opera was a massive hit with audiences with 2.563 million viewers tuning in. Not only is that an 18% increase from the previous week, but it’s also the highest rating since John Cena returned to the blue brand on December 30th, 2022.
Even more impressively for WWE, the show scored a 0.73 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic, topping all television and up 40.4% on May 26th. That’s the highest rating in the demographic since Christmas Day 2020.
It was also noted by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics that the final quarter of the episode averaged 2.9 million viewers.
Roman Reigns Runs Out Of Patience
After being presented with the new title belt by Triple H, Roman Reigns was interrupted by The Usos. Tension within the family hit a new high at Night of Champions when Jimmy turned his back on Reigns, hitting him with two Superkicks, causing the World Champion and Solo Sikoa to lose out to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Jimmy showed no sign of backing down on SmackDown and it appeared that Sikoa had even joined them against Reigns. However, the enforcer attacked Jimmy at the behest of Reigns to leave him laying as the show went off the air.
