Nick Aldis and Robert Roode produced multiple segments for the 11th August edition of WWE SmackDown.
Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Aldis has been a free agent since finishing up his contractual obligations with IMPACT Wrestling earlier this month and has been heavily linked with a move to WWE in recent months.
A report from Fightful Select revealed that Aldis shadowed Petey Williams in producing the AJ Styles vs Karrion Kross match on the show.
Roode, meanwhile, assisted Jamie Noble in producing backstage segments alongside laying out the WWE United States Championship match between Austin Theory and Rey Mysterio. The bout saw Mysterio pick up a surprising victory to unseat Theory and claim the gold.
What Is Robert Roode’s WWE Story?
Robert Roode has been absent from the ring since a Live Event defeat to Omos on 25th June 2022.
The Canadian joined WWE back in 2016 and enjoyed a fine run in the black and gold brand, claiming the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT: San Antonio in January 2017.
A move to SmackDown followed in late 2017 and Roode would claim his first main roster singles gold on January 16th 2018, defeating Jinder Mahal in the final of an eight-man tournament for the vacant WWE United States Championship, a title he would drop to Randy Orton less than two months later.
Roode would move on to form a brief tag team with Chad Gable ahead of a three year partnership with Dolph Ziggler as ‘The Dirty Dawgs’.
The duo would win both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championship during their alliance which continued until Roode was sidelined in mid 2022.
He would go on to reveal he had undergone neck fusion surgery in September 2022 and with the former WWE 24/7 Champion now 47 years of age, a move to become a full-time producer appears more likely than a return to the squared circle.
