Rey Mysterio isn’t ready to hang up his boots just yet.

With decades of experience in the world of professional wrestling, there’s little Rey Mysterio hasn’t accomplished. The star is still going strong, but at the age of 49, he knows the majority of his in-ring days are behind him.

Rey Mysterio has spoken in the past about nearly retiring in 2019, revealing that his son Dominik Mysterio convinced him to continue his career. The star has previously indicated that he wanted to retire by the age of 50, but speaking in a new interview with Metro UK, he admits he might stay in the ring past his 50th birthday in December.

“So I think – I knew I had a number in mind. and I said I didn’t want to go past that. But I’m truly listening to how my body has been reacting. And my body has been reacting great, and my motivation is still on point.

I want to make sure that everything, coordination wise, is still on point in order for me to continue. As of yet, you know, I’m good!”

This is consistent with Rey Mysterio’s claim in October that he wanted to retire in the next year or two.

Rey Mysterio Reflects On Eddie Guerrero

In the same interview, Mysterio opened up about missing his friend Eddie Guerrero who sadly passed away in 2005. According to Mysterio, his career would be massively different if Guerrero were still around.

“Oh, my gosh, Eddie. Everything would be much different right now, with Eddie being here. I’ve talked about it and I’ve kind of fantasised on how the story would even be if Eddie was was around.

It’s just very emotional just thinking about it. But, knowing how much bigger it would be with Eddie being here? It just blows my mind.”
