One former WWE star looked back on an incredible WrestleMania moment.
At WrestleMania 38 in Arlington, TX, Chad Gable teamed with Otis to take on RKBro and The Street Profits. After RKBro retained their Raw Tag Team Championship by pinning Gable, they and The Street Profits celebrated with Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, who had recently signed with the company in 2021. Chad Gable, seemingly frustrated at being upstaged, slapped the drink out of Steveson’s hand and was thrown around by the new signee for his trouble.
Despite much fanfare when he signed his NIL deal, Gable Steveson only had one televised match in the company, taking on Baron Corbin at the 2023 edition of NXT Great American Bash. On May 4th, news broke that Steveson had been released from his WWE contract.
“It’s Pretty Cool” – Gable Steveson On WWE WrestleMania Moment
Speaking in a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Steveson was asked if he looked back on a photo of himself at WrestleMania 38 fondly. He had this to say:
“No, I look back at, ‘That’s a great picture.’ I was at a WrestleMania, I had a WrestleMania moment. There’s so many people that are in pro wrestling that have never had a WrestleMania moment and [are] praying that they do, and I’ve had that moment, and [it’s] pretty cool. Chad Gable, thank you for that moment too. There’s no problems for me. I would love to, if it came up again, it would be cool. If not, the world never stops spinning.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Steveson made it clear that he has no hard feelings toward WWE following his release from the company. In another recent interview, Steveson explained why his time in the sports entertainment giant didn’t work out.
