R-Truth Elaborates On WWE Retirement Plans

R-Truth in WWE

R-Truth addressed how long he plans to continue wrestling in WWE.

At the age of 52, R-Truth is still going strong in the ring, and speaking in a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, the star opened up about his plans for the future. According to Truth, he wants to follow the lead of Rey Mysterio and listen to his body when it comes to retirement.

“I like being in the ring. I think I’m like Rey Mysterio with this right here. I’ll let my body be the guide and be the answer to that. I always listen to my body, always. And right now, man, to be honest, I’ve never felt as healthy as I feel now, clear-minded, clear-headed. Still can do my back flips, still can do my splits.

There’s a lot of things that this generation hadn’t even seen me do yet, and I still can do, like you said, just sometime I don’t need to do it. Give me an opportunity, I will go out there and show that oh, sh*t, he could still go.”

R-Truth Nearly Had To Retire Due To Infection

While his body is feeling great now, R-Truth went through a scary situation in 2022 that could have led to his career coming to an abrupt end. In November of that year, Truth tore his quad during a match with Grayson Waller in NXT, and he required surgery to repair the injury.

However, the torn quad was the least of Truth’s worries. Elsewhere in the interview, R-Truth detailed contracting a serious infection that could have led to amputation.

Also in the interview, R-Truth recounted asking for John Cena’s blessing to honour his childhood hero.
