A popular former WWE faction is reportedly in discussions with Tony Khan’s AEW.
Ever since its inception in 2019, AEW has risen to the ranks as WWE’s main competitor. Over the years, fans have seen several superstars jump ship from both promotions. Recently, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet switched companies to join AEW at All In 2024.
As per a recent report from Fightful Select, a former WWE faction managed by MVP, ‘The Hurt Business’, aka ‘The Hurt Syndicate’ reportedly had discussions with AEW. Around two weeks ago, Totally Harmless Concept LLC filed to trademark “The Hurt Syndicate”, and had previously filed several other trademarks for MVP.
MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin all parted ways with the promotion within the past few months, and are looking for a new home. The report notes that the discussions were about having a faction similar to ‘The Hurt Business’ outside of the Stamford-based promotion.
The Jacksonville-based promotion had discussions with Lashley, Benjamin, and MVP, although there are no updates on any deal or agreement. MVP’s next match is scheduled against Josh Barnett at GCW Bloodsport XII on November 24 in Jersey City.
Tony Khan Shares Update On Injured AEW Star
Earlier this year on 24th April, AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs injured himself during his match against Jon Moxley. The knee injury was deemed serious, and the wrestler was ruled out of action.
During the All Out media scrum, Tony Khan shared a major update on Powerhouse Hobb’s injury status. He shared:
Will Hobbs has been visiting the doctors. He was injured wrestling against Jon Moxley in April. It’s been several months of Hobbs being out. We’re hoping to get him back soon, but I think there is still some time he needs for the recovery.”
Khan further praised Hobbs’ contribution to the promotion, and his championship run. Hobbs has been an excellent star on the roster, and his absence is currently heavily felt. Hobbs’ return alongside ‘The Hurt Syndicate’s’ debut can shake the ground for Khan’s promotion.
