Omos may be relatively new to wrestling, but he definitely gets “it.”
The Nigerian Giant spoke with SportsNet and the question on the outlet’s mind was could Omos have a successful run as a babyface? While he’s got an undeniable presence and look, Omos is aware that the deck could be stacked against him being such a big man.
“From a psychology standpoint, it can be very challenging for someone who’s seven-foot-three, muscles, and huge and intimidating, to get sympathy.”
Can Omos Attract Sympathy From Fans?
Omos is notoriously a likable person backstage and has caught babyface fire with one segment of the wrestling fanbase, but he still questions the viability of himself being a long-term babyface due to his unique size and talents.
“Heels don’t inspire people, only babyfaces do. And for me, that’s going to be the challenge: How can this big, giant person inspire people? Because there’s no relatability to someone who’s seven-foot-three … the moment where you see me with somebody smaller than me, the brain says, ‘I want the little guy to kick the big guy’s ass.’”
Plenty of people had a hard time doing such at WWE SummerSlam. The Nigerian Giant was a very active participant during the Slim Jim Battle Royal and he cleared a great deal of house during it before it became a group effort to eliminate him from the event.
All that said, Omos certainly wouldn’t have gotten a babyface reaction if he won the match as Detroit was firmly behind LA Knight who ended up being the last man standing.
In a new interview in 2024, the WWE star explained why he has been absent.
