MVP was praised backstage for the way he handled issues with this top AEW star.
After leaving WWE when his contract expired, Montel Vontavious Porter debuted in All Elite Wrestling on the September 25th episode of Dynamite. Shelton Benjamin joined him the next week, and many are excited to see what the former Hurt Business members have to offer in their new promotion.
However, MVP’s AEW signing left some fans wondering if another backstage altercation could be on the way in the company as his longtime heat with former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has been well-documented. Jericho and MVP allegedly had a physical altercation on the Jericho Cruise back in 2020, and they reportedly had another heated confrontation at a hotel after AEW Dynamite in May of 2022.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, issues between the two men appear to be settled and left in the past. Sources told Fightful that on MVP’s first night in All Elite Wrestling, he went to Jericho’s locker room to address the situation directly. While there are no reports as to exactly what was said, the two men hashed out their differences and it’s believed there won’t be issues going forward.
The report also notes that MVP was praised backstage by multiple people for addressing his problems with Jericho directly. Sources indicate that the two men have been seen interacting backstage since that night, including at the October 2nd episode of Dynamite.
Booker T Delighted That MVP Signed With AEW
After news of Montel Vontavious Porter becoming All Elite, Booker T took to his Hall of Fame podcast to share his delight at the new signing. According to the WWE Hall of Famer, the star was an asset in WWE and will continue to be valuable in his new promotion.
“MVP is a guy who during the pandemic was one of the MVPs. He did some hell of a work during that time as well as with Bobby Lashley in the Hurt Business. He did some really, really good work. He really did. So for me to have someone like MVP to be able to carry that mantle, because he does it and he does it well, for that reason and that reason only, like a Paul Heyman.
We have very few guys who can step into that position that can actually go out there and make somebody look good and they don’t even have to get in the ring to actually do it. That’s MVP. So give that guy his shine as far as being that guy who can go out there and get that done with these young guys. For me, I’m glad to see him be there.” (h/t WrestlingNews.co)
