AEW Dynamite episode of Blood & Guts witnessed MJF debut a brand new championship.
During the July 17th episode of Dynamite fans witnessed the Wolf of Wrestling defeat Will Ospreay in an hour-long bout to win the International Championship. However, during Blood & Guts, The Salt of the Earth verbally destroyed Ospreay before unveiling a brand new championship.
Friedman introduced the new title as the American Championship. The title now sports a red and blue strap with stars on it, and a geographical map of the United States of America in the center.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com reported the International Championship will now be replaced by the American Championship.
More details on the Championship are yet to be revealed, although fans were treated with a major All In 2024 match announcement.
MJF Announced for AEW All In 2024 Match Card
The Aerial Assassin later challenged Friedman for his American Championship at AEW All In in London. While MJF had previously denied to face Ospreay, things do not seem to be in the former’s corner for now.
In a discussion with The Wrestling Classic, the former World Champion shared:
Why would I wrestle a guy I beat so handily? I literally beat him in record time. I mean, yeah, if somebody tries to pitch that to me, there’s no reality that match is happening again.”
However, now Will Ospreay seems to have invoked his rematch clause, and both the stalwarts shall face each other again in London for the Championship.
