MJF Criticised For Cody Rhodes Reference On Dynamite, AEW Star Responds

MJF has come under fire for comments made on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, prompting a response from the former World Champion.

Appearing live on the February 5th episode of Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman references Jeff Jarrett’s loss to Claudio Castagnoli the previous week and took great pleasure in The Last Outlaw losing the match.

Following a brief interruption from Max Caster, who was later chased out of the ring by Adam Page, MJF was once again interrupted, this time by Dustin Rhodes.

The Natural blasted the former World Champion for bringing up past issues, noting that he has battled addiction and is now 16 years clean and sober. Rhodes finished off by reminding Friedman that he is better than him, prompting Friedman to respond that Dustin Rhodes took 37 years to get out from underneath his father’s shadow but is now living in the shadow of his baby brother Cody Rhodes.

A brawl ensured with MJF eventually standing tall by delivering a low blow onto Rhodes, setting up a match between the 2 the following week.

Over the course of AEW history, the competition has been brought up numerous times, prompting many to question if referencing WWE on TV is a wise decision. Taking to social media to address the segment, former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas said the following about the Cody Rhodes line:

Great job MJF of reminding your audience about the man who is on top in the other company!

MJF Responds To Jimmy Korderas

Responding to Korderas on social media, the former World Champion explained his connection to Cody Rhodes while also giving his own opinion on the matter:

His brother. My mentor. A guy who helped shape me early on in my career. Your old boss brainwashed you into believing we need to treat the fans like morons and pretend other Wrestling companies don’t exist You dumb ignorant bald grifting fuck. …respectfully.
