There could be light at the end of the tunnel for one AEW star.
Thunder Rosa has been out of action for nearly a year due to an ongoing back injury and unfortunately had to relinquish her AEW Women’s Championship back in August in hopes of getting herself healthy again. On a recent episode of her blog, “La Mera Mera” had AEW doctor Michael “Doc” Sampson on and provided an optimistic outlook for Rosa.
“It’s been a long process. Looking at the most recent MRIs and all the conservative stuff we’ve done in the past, you’re progressing well right now. You still have all the pathology in your lower back, L4 and L5, with our progression going into pushing it to the limit, but taking it sequentially, going week to week to week, we push a little more, if we hit a roadblock, we back it up a step. Over the next four to six weeks, we see how it’s going. So far, you’ve been progressing very well, pain-free. If we continue to do that, we know where we stand, get you stronger, get you ring ready, as long as you don’t have that pain, we’re good. We still have to protect your back.”
If Thunder Rosa’s Progress Continues, We May See Her Back In The Ring Again
Sampson continued and even gave a loose timeframe as to when Rosa may be able to step back in the ring once again.
“I would say [six weeks] is a good goal point to go to. Six weeks and see how we go with that.”
Although she hasn’t wrestled, Rosa has been an active role on AEW Spanish commentary. Additionally, her return was teased in hype for “AEW Collision” as she walked into Tony Khan’s office and she was later featured on the promo poster for the premiere of the program.
