One of Vince McMahon‘s staunchest allies is leaving WWE.
According to PWInsider, Kevin Dunn, who is WWE’s Executive Producer & Chief, Global Television Distribution, gave his notice to WWE in the past week after over 30 years in the company.
According to the report, a big factor in his decision to step down is the changes made since Endeavor purchased WWE and merged it with UFC to form TKO. Dunn is said to have a “differing vision” as to how things should be run from a TV production standpoint.
In addition to this, Dunn, who has been seen as Vince McMahon’s right-hand man, is thought to have had no intention of working under any other boss, so his exit is not a huge surprise to many.
When McMahon began his short-lived retirement in 2022, there were rumours that Kevin Dunn would be leaving WWE, however, he stayed with the company at that time as there was nobody who could feasibly replace him.
Kevin Dunn Has Been With WWE For 30 Years
Kevin Dunn is WWE’s longest-serving Executive outside of Vince McMahon himself, having officially joined the company back in 1984, following in the footsteps of his father who worked in television production under Vincent J. McMahon and the old WWWF.
Dunn has been the key man behind the look and feel of WWE TV for most of his time in the company and was involved in every major production from the first WrestleMania through to the present day.
According to Fightful Select, there is a feeling internally that Dunn’s role will be divided among staff who have trained in different aspects of his job. Fightful also noted that Dunn had missed more shows than usual lately, with some believing he is one of several of the “old guard” whose duties would be scaled back over the following months.
In a new update on January 1st, WWE President Nick Khan has confirmed the departure.
