In news that will delight the WWE Universe, LA Knight will be action at SummerSlam.
The July 28th episode of SmacKDown proved to be a big night for LA Knight as the fan favourite continued his rise up the card. In the ring, the star overcame Ashante Thee Adonis in a little over a minute and a half despite attempted intervention from Top Dolla at ringside.
Later in the show, it was announced that a Battle Royal sponsored by Slim Jim had been added to SummerSlam, with LA Knight and Sheamus confirmed as the first two participants.
The Battle Royal will feature Superstars from both SmackDown and Raw, and Knight and Sheamus will meet in singles action on August 4th.
Does WWE Have Big Plans For LA Knight?
For a number of months, WWE fans have been calling on the company to get behind Knight and move him into main-event contention. Knight’s popularity skyrocketed on the eve of WrestleMania 39 and he’s regularly been getting monster reactions from crowds, most notably at Money In The Bank in London.
Interestingly, it was reported that LA Knight is in line for a big push after SummerSlam. This is despite earning a reputation backstage as someone who has “rubbed people the wrong way.”
It was recently reported that WWE management views LA Knight very highly.
