Kurt Angle has named an AEW star as his favourite wrestler outside of WWE.
Angle may be best known for his time in the sports entertainment giant, but the Olympic Gold Medallist also spent a considerable amount of time outside the company, working for TNA and making appearances for the likes of NJPW and AAA.
When asked who his favourite wrestler outside of WWE is on the most recent ‘Ask Kurt Anything’ edition of his podcast, the star quickly answered with a man many believe to be the best in the world, Kenny Omega.
“That’s easy, Kenny Omega. I might have to make him my girlfriend. I love Bryan Danielson, but you know what, Bryan Danielson has been part of WWE.”
Angle has praised Omega in the past, recently calling him “the best today”. The feeling also seems to be mutual, as Omega has revealed that when he needs to learn, he studies the Hall of Famer.
When it comes to women’s wrestling, Angle chose Mercedes Mone, who has been making waves in Japan in recent months, but is unfortunately currently on the injured list.
“[Mercedes Mone’s] a good one to pick. That would be my favorite female [outside of WWE].”
Kurt Angle names “best wrestler in the world”
Angle then turned to the women of World Wrestling Entertainment, heaping praise on Charlotte Flair who he believes has had the most consistent five-star matches.
“Listen, I love Charlotte Flair. I think she’s the best of all time. I actually think she’s the best wrestler in the world overall, I really do.
“I think Charlotte Flair has had more consistent five-star matches than any other person. She is really, really good. But Sasha Banks, Mercedes, she’s awesome too.”
Flair returned to action for the first time in several months on SmackDown and immediately set her sights on Asuka and the Women’s Championship.
