Kenny Omega Claims WWE Legend Is “The Best”

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega is hailed as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of the modern era.

After more than two decades in the world of professional wrestling, there’s little the former IWGP and AEW World Champion hasn’t accomplished. However, according to the man himself, he doesn’t believe he’s the best of all time.

Instead, Omega says that honor belongs to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Responding to a question on social media as to who is better in their prime, Omega heaped praise on Angle, saying that not only does he believe the Olympic gold medalist is superior, but that he studies Angle when he wants to learn. He also teases that a dream match between the two would be a “heck of a match.”

“I don’t study myself when I want to learn, I study Kurt. He’s the best for a reason. I take the L – but it’d be a heck of match”

Kurt Angle Once Called Kenny Omega “One Of The Greatest Workers In The Business Today”

Admiration between Omega and Angle is mutual. During a 2021 episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medalist responded to praise from Omega, making the claim that the Winnipeg native is the biggest star to not have a career in WWE.

“That means a lot to me, what Kenny said. To be in that position, to be able to have someone line Kenny Omega look up to me. That’s a true honor because the kid is incredible. What he has been able to do the past ten years in professional wrestling, over in Japan, here in the United States. He was the biggest star and the most talented superstar that never went to WWE.”

Continuing, Angle compared Omega to fellow WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.

“And he will go down in history as that if he never did go to WWE. I mean, his success, what he has had in Japan, and in AEW, phenomenal. I haven’t seen a talent like him in a long time. I would say that he is every bit as talented as Rey Mysterio. And he belongs in that upper echelon of talents; one of the greatest workers in the business today.” (h/t Sportskeeda)

At AEW Double or Nothing, Omega and The Elite suffered a loss at the hands of the Blackpool Combat Club in an Anarchy in the Arena match.
