Kurt Angle has enjoyed a highly successful career in professional wrestling. After his gold medal-winning performance at the 1996 Olympics, Kurt Angle was scouted by the World Wrestling Federation, eventually making his wrestling debut in 1999.
He wrestled for the WWF/E between 1999 and 2006, then joining TNA until 2016, when he would soon enter his final in-ring run with WWE.
Over his career, he has had uncountable excellent matches against the likes of fellow all-time greats like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, John Cena and Chris Jericho. However, when it comes to his favourite match of all time, it may surprise readers that Angle picked a match in which he had no involvement.
Kurt Angle Reveals His Favourite Match of All Time
On a recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, eleven-time World Champion Kurt Angle revealed his favourite match ever.
“Okay, hands down. WrestleMania 20 Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit, best Triple Threat I ever saw in my life. Me and Eddie had a banger of a match that night, and that Triple Threat blew us out of the water. I was so pissed off, I was so jealous. I was like ‘son of a bitch.’ Man, they stole the show. And Eddie and I had a banger. I mean, we really had a great match.”
The main event of WrestleMania 20 was given 4.75 stars at the time by wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, and currently holds a 9.56/10 rating on cagematch.net.
As Kurt Angle noted, WrestleMania 20 also featured the Olympic Gold Medalist taking on the late Eddie Guerrero, with Guerrero winning their match with one of the most creative roll-ups in wrestling history.
Angle has been revealing many of his “favourites” as of late. He has also recently commented on his favourite non-WWE wrestler, and his favourite moment from his WWE career.
