Kenny Omega’s return match has been officially announced.
Following his in-ring return at the inaugural Wrestle Dynasty show on January 5th, Omega made his return to AEW on the January 8th Dynamite. Opening up about his battle with diverticulitis, the former World Champion admitted that had he not been hospitalised earlier then there was a good chance that he would have died.
The emotional address was cut off by Don Callis, who seemed less than impressed that his former friend was back in the promotion. Wasting little time, Omega attacked Callis on the ramp before being jumped by Brian Cage, Lance Archer and later Kyle Fletcher.
With Omega the victim of a 3 on 1 beatdown, The Cleaner saw an unlikely ally come to his aid as Will Ospreay stormed to the ring with a steel chair to save his former rival. Ospreay checked on Omega and exited the ring to close out the show.
It was later announced that Omega would be in action on the Maximum Carnage Dynamite special on January 15th against Brian Cage in what is a loaded line-up for the show. Other notable matches announced for the special include Jon Moxley defending the World Championship against Powerhouse Hobbs and the first-ever Women’s Casino Gauntlet match.
Kenny Omega Continues Promo For Live Fans
After the show went off the air, Omega continued to speak to the fans in attendance. The former World Champion provided the good news that he is fully cleared to wrestle again and informed the fans that he would be facing Cage in his return match.
Closing out the address, Omega praised the state of professional wrestling in 2025 and how he wants to be a part of it in the next year before delivering his signature catchphrase and thanking the fans.
In a recent interview, an AEW veteran stated that Kenny Omega’s return was “a blessing.”
