Jon Moxley Explains Why Previous Iteration Of AEW Was

Jon Moxley has spoken about his vision for AEW and why he found the previous iteration of the company “challenging.”

Since AEW WrestleDream, Jon Moxley has been vocal about reshaping AEW’s direction, emphasising a vision of accountability and growth. His efforts began after AEW All Out, where he, Claudio Castagnoli, and Pac turned on Bryan Danielson, signalling a bold takeover. This momentum culminated at WrestleDream, where Moxley captured the AEW World Title. In an interview with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri, Moxley shared insights into his vision for AEW and the challenges he encountered in its earlier days.

I spent about two months just thinking and reading books and walking around downtown Cincinnati at 3 in the morning, thinking, as I am one to do. I had a vision. A vision of a future. A vision that could be ours. That it could belong to everybody.

Moxley reflected on what he found problematic in AEW’s previous iteration, citing a lack of accountability within the company.

One thing I found challenging in the previous iteration of AEW was, I found it challenging to find anyone who would take responsibility for anything. ‘It’s not my fault’ was a thing that would be heard bouncing around the hallways of AEW quite ubiquitously.

Determined to lead by example, Moxley adopted a take-charge mentality.

I’ll take responsibility for everything. For every single thing. I’ll make it my responsibility. You can blame me. If we run out of hot dogs tonight… I’ll go to Costco, get 30 boxes of hot dogs, and I’ll drive them to the building. I’ll have my wife bake cookies for three days straight. I’ll drive them to the building myself.

For Moxley, leadership means cultivating a reliable inner circle and fostering growth.

That circle will grow. None of this stuff happens overnight.

He concluded, underscoring his commitment to AEW’s evolution. Moxley will defend his AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy at AEW Full Gear on November 23rd.

What Did Jon Moxley Say About The AEW World Championship?

Jon Moxley shared his feelings on the AEW World Championship and why he hates it. Moxley said that the title belt is a symbol of everything that he hates in the wrestling business and a symbol of everything that he has been working towards eradicating from the wrestling industry and AEW.
