Jon Moxley is gearing up for a significant challenge as he prepares to face Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at NJPW Windy City Riot on April 12th. If successful, Moxley will etch his name in history as the first individual to hold the World Titles across AEW, WWE, and NJPW.
In a candid statement on NJPW’s Road To, Jon Moxley revealed his apprehensions about the impact of a potential victory. He expressed his belief that even if he clinches the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, he will continue to be perceived as the most overlooked, disrespected, and forgotten wrestler in the history of professional wrestling. Despite this sentiment, he emphasised the personal significance of such an achievement, stating:
Even if I win, it’s not going to matter. I’ll be the most overlooked, disrespected, forgotten about, taken for granted wrestler in the history of this business. It’s not going to matter, but it means something to me.
He recounted his enduring pursuit of monumental challenges, emphasising his relentless commitment to scaling new heights in the industry. He affirmed:
I’ve been doing this since I was 19. Since the first championship I ever won. I see the mountain, I climb the mountain. Everybody standing next to me looks up and says it’s too high. ‘You’re not going to do that, you can’t do that.’ I say, ‘Watch me.’ Then, I find a higher one, and I climb that. Then, I find a higher one, and I climb that, and a higher one. Now, I’m about to do something that nobody in the history of pro wrestling has ever done.
