If push came to shove, could Jon Moxley survive a match with “the cutest wrestler in the world?”
It’s a question that is on the lips of wrestling fans today after deathmatch legend Maki Itoh (don’t @ me) appeared on Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast.
The episode was recorded live in Chicago over All Out weekend, and also featured appearances from Nick Wayne, Taya Valkyrie, Shawn Spears, Jake Hager & Lash LaRoux.
When Colt Cabana asked Maki Itoh about what she wanted to do next in pro wrestling, she took a moment to ponder the question, before settling on one confident answer.
“I want to wrestle Jon Moxley.”
Host Cabana reacted positively to the challenge, stating that Jon Moxley vs. Maki Itoh is a match he would pay to see.
Jon Moxley and Maki Itoh have a notable mutual friend in Nick Gage, who has been teaming with Itoh this year under the tandem “Maki Death Kill.” The pair currently have an undefeated record in GCW, after despatching Deathmatch Royalty (Matt Cardona & Steph De Landis) and BUSSY (Effy & Allie Katch) this year.
In the realm of GCW, where Maki Itoh is a familiar face, Jon Moxley has been known to pop up from time to time. His reign as the GCW World Champion lasted over a year before Nick Gage ultimately toppled him at GCW Fight Club 2022.
And with Maki Itoh having participated in eleven AEW matches since 2021, a potential clash with Moxley does remain within the realm of possibility.
Yet, with CM Punk’s recent firing, Tony Khan may be inclined to shield his top attraction, Jon Moxley, from potential harm. This task becomes notably daunting if Moxley were to square off against the tenacious Maki Itoh, so we may have to wait for now.
What Is Jon Moxley’s 2023 AEW Record?
At the time of writing, Jon Moxley boasts a 2023 record of 24 wins and 8 losses. His most recent triumph occurred just days ago at AEW All Out, where he defeated Orange Cassidy for the International Championship.
