AEW star Jon Moxley was accused of not having learnt anything from his WWE tenure by a prominent pro wrestling personality, who also added that his former Shield stablemates had surpassed him.
The former AEW World Champion’s intense and violent style inside the ring is something that has divided fan bases ever since he debuted in the Jacksonville-based company. While many appreciate the work he puts in, one person who is not a fan of his work is wrestling veteran, Jim Cornette.
Speaking on the latest episode of Cornette’s Drive Thru podcast, he criticized Jon Moxley’s style and the spot between him and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page during their bout at All In. Cornette added that Moxley’s mindset about doing such spots is what made him flunk out of WWE. He also said that this issue is what led The Lunatic Fringe to be left behind, whereas his former Shield stablemates, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, had soared to greater heights:
[Jon] Moxley actually had [Hangman] Page stab him in the head with the fork about 20 times and puncture his head so he would start bleeding. Now, he augmented it later on with a blade because the fork didn’t do that. But no, that was real because this guy– Somebody needs to do a mental evaluation, and he has one of these self-harm fetishes, or he thinks he’s some goddamn famous psychopath serial killer. He fantasizes about that Nick Gage garbage, and he’s been to–. We know why he flunked out of the WWE because of the mindset that he has, but he’s been there. He didn’t learn anything. Two guys he was with left him in the fu**ing dust.”
While Jim Cornette has always been vocal about his dislike for the violent deathmatch style of wrestling that Jon Moxley excels at, that was not the only thing he had a problem with.
Jim Cornette Shares His Thoughts About Jon Moxley’s Match At All In
Speaking about the match, the former WWE veteran said that back in the old days, wrestlers would put in the effort to make people believe in the kayfabe storylines.
He added that the bloody, over-the-top spots that Jon Moxley and Hangman Page did during their Texas Deathmatch, made it look fake and, in the process, they hurt and maimed each other for real:
Now, everything about both of these guys has told everybody, ‘This is all completely fake. It’s all pre-arranged. We’re cooperating with each other, but we’re really going to slice each other up.’ So, at the same time as they are calling attention to how fake wrestling is, they’re really hurting each other and making each other look like goddamn subhuman sideshow fu**ing freak dwellers that like to inflict punishment on each other before they bite the head off the fu**ing live chicken.”

In other news, the Moxley-Page rivalry seems to be far from over as the former champion attacked and bloodied Page’s friend Colt Cabana on the latest episode of Collision.
