According to a new report, there were some nerves backstage before Jey Uso pinned Roman Reigns at WWE Money In The Bank.
At the special event in London, England, The Usos went to war against what’s left of The Bloodline, in what was billed as “Civil War.” By the time all was said and done, it was hard to disagree with the tagline.
For more than 30 minutes the teams of Reigns and Sikoa and The Usos threw everything they had at each other, going beyond what the crowd expected. More than once Reigns seemed to have the match in the bag, only for Jimmy and Jey to find and way to continue.
As the action spilled outside the ring, Sikoa tried to splash Jimmy through the announce table but the former Tag Team Champion moved, leaving Reigns shellshocked at the sudden realisation that he was alone.
Jey quickly got to work trying to dispatch Reigns but he came back with a thunderous Spear, only for his cousin to kick out and deliver a low blow that went unseen by the referee in the process. Jimmy and Jey hit Superkicks to both Sikoa and Reigns before Jey tagged in to hit a splash and score the win, leaving Jimmy an emotional wreck and almost in tears in the corner as the crowd erupted one more time.
With the victory, Jey became the first man to pin Reigns since Baron Corbin on December 15th, 2019.
It has now been reported by Wrestle Votes that there was some trepidation from one senior member of the creative team about the decision, and there was a strong argument that Reigns shouldn’t be pinned until he loses the Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
“There was a feeling of trepidation from a high ranking creative member in crafting the finish for this past Saturdays Bloodline match. A strong argument that Reigns shouldn’t be pinned prior to losing the title was present throughout the process.”
What Next For Roman Reigns?
Following the defeat of Solo Sikoa and Roman Reigns at Money In The Bank, The Bloodline is in tatters. However, the war between the two sides of the once close family seems far from over.
It’s been reported that Roman Reigns will look for revenge after being pinned at SummerSlam, taking on Jey Uso in a singles match.
