Gunther is gearing up to defend his Intercontinental Championship on the upcoming August 21st episode of WWE Raw.
The news was revealed during the August 14th episode of Raw, creating a buzz among fans who can’t wait to see the intense showdown between Gunther and top contender Chad Gable.
Gable earned his Intercontinental title shot by emerging victorious in a number one contender’s match against formidable opponents such as Matt Riddle, Ricochet, and Tommaso Ciampa on the August 7th Raw.
The rivalry between Gable and Gunther has been heating up, evident in their recent promo battle on the August 14th Raw. Adding fuel to the fire, Gable secured a win over Gunther’s Imperium teammate Giovanni Vinci in a follow-up singles match.
Meanwhile, Gunther proved his dominance by defeating Gable’s Alpha Academy stablemate Otis on Raw.
Why Are Gunther And Chad Gable Feuding?
Gunther and Gable had a match on the July 31st episode of Raw, where Gunther challenged Gable to last five minutes in the ring with him. Gable prevailed and survived the time limit. However, Gunther then ordered the match to be extended and eventually, he did prevail over Gable.
In a post-match interview on Raw Talk, Chad Gable issued a warning to Gunther and expressed his intentions to come for his Intercontinental Championship.
Gunther’s reign as Intercontinental Champion has been nothing short of impressive, he currently stands at 430 days as champion at the time of writing and is agonisingly close to The Honk Tonk Man’s record 454-day run as IC champ.
