Goldberg Returns To Challenge Roman Reigns On SmackDown

Goldberg confronts Roman Reigns

Not only is WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg back in WWE, Universal Champion Roman Reigns is next.

On the February 4th episode of SmackDown Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman opened the show toasting their most recent success. Namely costing Brock Lesnar the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

However, the pair were soon interrupted by former Universal Champion Goldberg. The WCW legend wasted little time in confirming that he did acknowledge Roman Reigns. But after a quick pause he got to his real point, which was a match at Elimination Chamber. The former World Champion proceeded to lay down the challenge for Reigns, declaring that he’s next.

Later on in the show the match was made official for Elimination Chamber.

The two stars had been set to meet at WrestleMania 36 but Reigns pulled out of the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roman Reigns is the longest reigning Universal Champion history, with a reign currently standing at 524 days and counting. Reigns won the title all of the way back in August 2020 at Payback. Meanwhile, Goldberg has been out of action since being defeated by Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel in October 2021.

It has already been announced that Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber inside the structure of the same name. At the event, Lashley will be facing Brock Lesnar, Seth Freakin’ Rollins, AJ Styles, Austin Theory and Riddle.

It has recently been reported that the planned WrestleMania 38 showdown between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will be “Title vs Title.” it was noted that both Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman were both pushing for the Universal and WWE Titles to be involved, while Vince McMahon is now said to be “leaning” in that direction.
