Former WWE Reportedly Set To Star Alongside MJF In 'Happy Gilmore 2'

MJF and a former WWE star are reportedly set to star together in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.

Before his Worlds Collide match against Adam Cole, MJF was rarely seen on AEW television. Busy filming Adam Sandler’s upcoming Netflix film, Happy Gilmore 2, Maxwell Jacob Friedman was recently featured in the film’s teaser.

However, as per a new report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, former Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, is also slated to appear in the film. The Irish Lass kicker has reportedly completed filming ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.

The sequel to the original 1996 comedy is now set to premiere on Netflix in 2025 later this year. The report shared little detail about The Man’s role. Although it was mentioned that Lynch would be a member of a group of rival golfers.

With not just Friedman or Lynch, the film also features several other cameo appearances from Eminem, Travis Kelce, and Bad Bunny. It is set to be directed by Kyle Newacheck. Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald were present in the initial film and are now set to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Enjoying quite an acting career ahead of Happy Gilmore 2, Lynch has appeared in two episodes of “Young Rock”, and has a cameo appearance in Billions. She made her film debut with “The Marine 6: Close Quarters” in 2018. Apart from this, Becky Lynch has also confirmed her upcoming appearance in “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy“.

Lynch was last seen losing to Liv Morgan on the 27th May episode of Raw and has been absent after her contract expired later. However, a recent Netflix advert teased Becky Lynch’s return.

Triple Has Confirmed The Fate Of WWE PLEs

From 6th January 2025, only Raw fans in the United States of America will be able to watch the show on Netflix. Whereas, all other types of content will be ready to steam in the International market.

While PLEs will also be shown on Netflix internationally, questions have arrived about its fate in the USA. With Peacock also set to expire next year, in an interview with Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated, Triple H shared his thoughts on the future of PLEs.

At some point this year, we’ll get into the deal with Peacock, who we love and they’ll get a lot of consideration for us as the existing partner. I like to think that if we’re successful the way we think we will be, Netflix would be very interested and others will be as well. Premium Live Events, that’s our biggest content and our most valuable content, including WrestleMania. I think people will come in strong for that. Hopefully, between now and March of next year, we will prove ourselves that that is our most valuable content.”
