WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has called The Bloodline storyline “probably the best story that’s been told, maybe ever in wrestling,” placing it above every other in the sport’s history.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff was asked about his personal favourite wrestling storyline. While citing the iconic Mega Powers saga between “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan as his top pick as a fan, he credited The Bloodline as the pinnacle of wrestling storytelling from a producer’s perspective.
“I think the Mega Powers, Randy and Hulk. That’s, for me, it’s probably number one, just as a fan, because it was kind of before I got involved in the business,” Bischoff said. “As a business person, as a producer, then clearly, the Bloodline story is probably the best story that’s been told, maybe ever in wrestling.”
The Mega Powers storyline began on Saturday Night’s Main Event on 3 October 1987, when Hogan saved Savage from an attack by The Honky Tonk Man. The duo formed a popular tag team before tensions led to a split. Savage turned on Hogan following The Main Event on 3 February 1989, and the feud culminated in a match at WrestleMania V for the WWF Championship.
The Bloodline saga, still unfolding in WWE, has spanned several years and numerous twists. Originally led by Roman Reigns, the faction included The Usos, Sami Zayn, and Paul Heyman. The storyline has since evolved into multiple betrayals, splits, and even a new iteration of The Bloodline, now led by Solo Sikoa and featuring Tonga Loa, Tanga Loa, and Jacob Fatu.
