While many fans are anticipating the return of CM Punk, one man who’s less than impressed is Eric Bischoff.
On the May 31st edition of Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan brought an end to months of speculation when he confirmed that Punk would be making his comeback to the company on the debut episode of Collision on June 17th.
Since then, it has been revealed that the Second City Saint will be part of the first main event for the new Saturday night show, teaming with FTR to take on Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson
Eric Bischoff gives his thoughts on CM Punk’s return
Since the announcement of the match, there has been a lot of speculation on whether it will kick off a new storyline involving Punk and White.
Inside The Ropes’ own Dominic DeAngelo gave his take on the situation on social media, saying he thinks we could see a double turn on Collision, with Punk joining the ‘Bang Bang Gang’ while Joe allies himself with FTR.
Bischoff then weighed in with his thoughts, agreeing with the idea of Punk turning. However, his reasoning has raised eyebrows as he claimed the star needs to be part of a group because he’s “not over enough to carry anything” on his own.
“Agree with #2. Clearly Punk needs to surround himself in a tag or a group. He’s not over enough to carry anything by himself and the camouflage is safe. Avoids having to work an entire match and protects his fragility.”
When a fan asked if the WWE Hall of Famer had an issue with Punk, he replied that he simply dislikes “frauds.”

The possibility of Punk entering a longer program with The Switchblade has gained ground in recent days with a report claiming he has “taken a liking” to the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
