Edge Appearing At AEW WrestleDream Is A Possibility

There is nothing stopping Edge from making a surprise appearance at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.

The Rated R Superstar has been the buzz of the wrestling world since winning his match against Sheamus in Toronto on August 18th. In the days leading up to the match, the Hall of Famer revealed that this would be the last match on his current contract, starting rumours that he would depart WWE for the first time after recently celebrating a 25th anniversary with the company.

With many UK fans dreaming of the debut taking place at All In, this was not a possibility as Edge was still under contract with WWE at this point. However, WrestleDream is a different story.

As reported on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the former WWE Champion’s contract expires on September 30th:

“Edge’s contract is up on Saturday [September 30th]. So he could appear on Sunday [October 1st].”

Meltzer continued, stating that a debut would be most likely during or after the TNT Title match featuring champion and Edge’s best friend Christian:

“Everyone will go crazy. It is weird [as Christian is a heel], but if that’s the deal, or he could cost Christian the title, come in as a babyface to feud with Christian. If there’s something that’s going to get him back, I mean, it’s obviously working with Christian. I don’t know if he’s going there or not. I just know that people in WWE, at least just a few weeks ago, believed that he was going there. I haven’t really asked anyone because it just hasn’t been anything that has come up. But when I watched that promo, October 1st is an interesting day. Just with nobody at ringside that’s where you would do it.”

It should be noted that shortly after his match in Toronto, Edge commented on the rumours that he would be wrestling elsewhere. Kurt Angle has also weighed in on the situation, saying he thinks Edge’s loyalty to WWE means who won’t make the jump to AEW.

Why Has Edge Not Re-Signed With WWE?

Having never wrestled for another company since debuting in 1998, it came as a surprise to many that the former WWE Champion was considering a move to the competition. It has been speculated that the main reason is that either side is “not close on money.”

With regard to a switch to AEW, the ball is said to be in Edge’s court.
