Reigning Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio drew a comparison to the late great Eddie Guerrero from a WWE Hall of Famer.
Dominik Mysterio joining WWE in 2019 as a superstar wasn’t the first introduction he had with many wrestling fans. At the age of 8 in 2005, he was involved in a highly personal storyline involving Eddie Guerrero and his father, Rey Mysterio, in which both legends fought over the child’s custody in kayfabe.
Rey eventually won the custody, but since 2022, after Dominik betrayed his father, the latter has even gone as far as to suggest that his actual father was Guerrero. Interestingly, fans have also noted many similarities between Dom and Eddie, mainly their looks, heelish mannerisms, and even movesets, among them was the legendary Torrie Wilson.
In a recent interview with SHAK Wrestling, Wilson praised Dominik Mysterio and recalled she had no idea he could play his current character as he was quiet the first time she saw him with Rey. The Hall of Famer added that the current superstars reminded her of the late Eddie Guerrero a great deal.
He [Dominik Mysterio] is not only an exceptional performer, but his wrestling ability is crazy and to think when he first came in with Rey [Mysterio], it was just like, okay, like he seemed a little quiet, like, you just had no idea that this was going to come out of him. It’s just really been fun, as I’m sure you think, watching him grow and he just really does remind me of Eddie [Guerrero] also, which people say a lot.” [H/T Fightful]

Eddie Guerrero’s Influence Was Seen During Dominik Mysterio’s Latest WWE Title Defense
At SummerSlam 2025, Dominik Mysterio defended the Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles. Not only did the champion pay homage to Eddie Guerrero, but his opponent did as well.
Dominik entered the match wearing the same mask his father wore, while Styles wore one inspired by Eddie, and even emerged in the arena in a lowrider. Both men included antics from Guerrero up to the finish, where Mysterio unzipped his boot to escape Styles’ submission before hitting the challenger with the boot and then delivering a Frog Splash for the win.
