Chad Gable is shining as a member of Alpha Academy, but he’s far from ruling out a new singles run with WWE.
Gable wants to “SHUUUSH” any doubters when it comes to being a solo act once more and he makes it clear during SummerSlam weekend that it’s something that’s been on his short list of goals. Speaking with Muscleman Malcolm during the SummerSlam press junket, Gable made his intentions clear.
“So, you know, all I’ll say is I’ve been asking for a long, long time to prove myself as a singles guy. I’ve felt ready for a long time. I’ve surveyed the scene. I keep a close eye on everybody and when I say I’m ready – I’m not gonna say I’m the best. I’ve got a lot I’ve got to prove myself to do that, but I believe in myself, I believe that I can prove that.”
On last week’s episode of WWE Raw, Gable went the distance with Gunther, lasting five minutes against the reigning Intercontinental Champion before losing, but Gable’s gumption caught fire with fans.
“If that thing with Gunther turns into something bigger, or a bigger opportunity for me, take my word, believe me when I say I’m not going to waste it.”
Chad Gable Has Gotten Himself Over As A Babyface And A Heel
While Gable hasn’t been a main eventer in the WWE, he’s shown that he’s got plenty of potential for such a spot. Gable shined in his early days down in NXT as a babyface before later tagging up with Jason Jordan as American Alpha. He soon found himself up on the main roster and was saddled with a “Shorty G” moniker and persona before eventually forming the heel version of Alpha Academy, corrupting the fan favorite Otis under his tutledge.
However, this recent run as a babyface duo has re-etablished Alpha Academy and further perpetuated the idea of the two’s individual star power. Both him and Otis got their opportunity in the spotlight at SummerSlam during the Slim Jim Battle Royal.
