A top AEW star wants to face Sheamus.

An industry veteran for over two decades now, former AEW Continental Champion, Eddie Kingston has spent several years of his career facing veterans such as Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, CM Punk, and others. However, Kingston has now planned a unique challenge for himself.

Speaking with Will Turner of Wrestling With The Narrative, Kingston commented on how he wants to face former WWE Champion Sheamus. Justifying his reasons, the ex-champion stated,

“I want to fight him so bad. I want to wrestle him very much. I just want — it’s mostly about machismo, that I can show that I’m better and beat him. But also, the other part is I like his style.”

Previously discussed his wishes to finish his career in AEW, Kingston possibly won’t get the chance to face The Celtic Warrior, if the latter stays in WWE and Kingston remains with AEW. A dream match for many, both Kingston and Sheamus are known for their hard-hitting style and spectacular wrestling abilities.

Both Sheamus and Eddie Kingston are in their 40s, and do not have much in-ring time left. Currently, recovering from an injury, Eddie Kingston recently shed some light on it.

AEW Star Eddie Kingston Discusses Injury Struggles And Mental Health Battle

Last year in May 2024, Kingston suffered a broken leg while wrestling Gabe Kidd at NJPW Strong Resurgence. He also suffered an ACL and meniscus tear on top of the fracture and is expected to be out till May 2025, at least.

Speaking on Wrestling with the Narrative, Eddie Kingston opened up on his physical and mental battles while recovering.

“Physically, I feel like sh*t. Mentally, I feel like sh*t. So everyday, I’m just working on getting better, you know what I’m saying?

“Physical therapy, it’s been tough just to get to physical therapy because of my insurance. I just got new insurance and then right when I was ready to start my new PT place, I started getting stomach issues. I had to wait a long time, they had to do a thing where they put a camera down my throat. Good that it’s happening now when I’m off, but I was in a lot of pain.

As of right now, it was nothing serious because I’m still awaiting for results, but from the initial thing he was like no cancer, no ulcer, no nothing. My primary doctor was like, ‘How’s stress for you?’ [laughs] I said, ‘How long do you have, do we need a therapist to come in here?’ They’re trying to get me to not stress out, calm down.”
