This popular AEW champion now wants to venture out into acting.
Recently victorious on the 25th May edition of Double or Nothing, one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Shelton Benjamin, has opened up on his potential plans outside of professional wrestling.
Recently speaking on the Energis podcast, Benjamin expressed his interest in acting and voiceover work.
“I’m excited with them. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. That and voiceovers. I’m a big kid. Not only am I a big kid, I’m a big geek. I went to San Diego Comic Con for the first time and I had to give my agent my wallet (because I didn’t trust myself). There’s no way. Every penny I made signing autographs would have gone to buying stuff.
With acting and ventures I want to get into, I’m on the clock now. This stuff has to work. I don’t have time to wonder or hope. I try to pick up a breadcrumb as soon as I see it. If I hear something profound or even strange, I try to pick up on it as soon as possible. I’m on the clock. This has to work.”

Benjamin and Bobby Lashley successfully defended their tag titles against Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara at Double or Nothing, with some help from MJF. Still, the champions, Benjamin’s upcoming storyline, have yet to be finalized.
AEW Star Shelton Benjamin Believes He “Overachieved” In WWE With This Title Win
Before joining AEW, Benjamin was a long-standing part of WWE. Speaking with former Tough Enough winner Maven Huffman on Huffman’s YouTube channel, Shelton Benjamin reflected on his 2004 Intercontinental Title win over Chris Jericho and claimed how he had “overachieved” with that victory.
“From this moment on, I am officially overachieving as a WWE Superstar, as far as my perception of where my career was going,” Benjamin said. “Growing up in South Carolina, I always watched wrestling, I loved wrestling. However, there were not a lot of black singles champions, not saying there weren’t any, but I saw more championships on black tag teams than on black singles.”
