Zoey Stark says her recent return is “a moment that she’ll never forget.”
NXT women’s Superstar Zoey Stark suffered a torn ACL and meniscus last year, which kept her out of action for an extended period. Many fans speculated on when the superstar would eventually make her return to NXT 2.0.
The former NXT Tag Champion then made her return this past week and won a 20-woman Battle Royal to earn a shot against Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship. Stark last eliminated Cora Jade, who hid outside the ring for most of the match and tried to eliminate Stark after she already thought she’d won.
With momentum on her side, Stark is soaking in every moment of her comeback while also looking toward the future. During an interview with WWE Espanol, Stark opened up about coming back from her injury and said it’s “surreal” to hear the crowd’s positive reaction.
“You know, I’m still on a high right now from Tuesday [her NXT 2.0 return]. It’s such a surreal moment. That’s a moment I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. I was not expecting the WWE universe to react in that way so when they did, that meant the world to me. I mean it was amazing. My physical therapist actually, she just sent me a video of how the crowd reacted and it’s so crazy to see the fans reacted that way to me. So mind-blowing. So it was amazing,”
WWE hyped up Stark’s return by showing QR codes on TV that led to puzzles for fans to figure out. The star admitted to feeling a bit worried that fans wouldn’t be receptive to her coming back as she only had two matches on NXT before being side-lined. Now that she knows the crowd is on her side, she can focus on winning the NXT Women’s Championship from Rose.
